Members of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Newsquest Cumbria have walked out in a dispute over pay.

The titles affected by the strike are the Carlisle News and Star, the Cumberland News, the Workington Times and Star and the Whitehaven News.

Newsquest has made more than a 100 people redundant since it took over Cumbria Newspapers in March 2018.

However the company says that their websites and newspapers will continue to publish as normal, and that they are investing in new technology and aiming to give the business a more sustainable future.
