WATCH: Chris Packham casts doubt on golden eagle release in southern Scotland
The South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project was launched at the start of the year with a million pounds of lottery funding.
The project aims to boost the population of golden eagles in an area where they have failed to thrive.
Wildlife broadcaster, Chris Packham, has told ITV Border that the release of the birds was a "perilous thing to do".
The Project has said they are aware of the problems with birds being persecuted and are working 'very closely' with the police.
