Artistic displays in Kirkcudbright, including a giant wicker horse and a Tardis-style police phone box, have been vandalised.

Police Scotland received a call on Tuesday 23 October complaining that the features, which were installed as part of the town's Festival of Light, had been damaged.

The wicker horse's legs have been broken, and the windows of the police box have been smashed.

Police enquiries suggest this may have happened the previous evening, Monday 22 October, in the harbour area of the town.
