Further disruption for region's rail passengers

Rail passengers in Cumbria and southern Scotland are facing another weekend of disruption with station closures and strike action.

Network Rail is warning West Coast main line users not to travel to London as Euston station is shut for upgrade work at North Wembley junction.

It's the third consecutive weekend the station will have been closed. Network Rail say the closure is essential and will deliver major improvements.

And tomorrow routes in Cumbria including the Settle-Carlisle and Cumbria Coast lines are set to be affected by strike action with the RMT union calling a 24-hour walkout as part of a long-running dispute with Northern over the role of train guards.

Passengers are being urged to plan extra time for their journeys and warned that trains are likely to be busier than usual.
