Leak in £28 million new Dumfries school caused by construction faults
A leak inside a new £28million school in Dumfries, which forced builders to pull down the ceiling weeks ahead of its opening, was caused by construction errors.
The North West Community Campus has been under construction since 2016 and is due to open to around 1000 students on 21 August.
An investigation into the cause of the leak has identified issues with support fixing and brackets for the sprinkler system. These had been attached incorrectly, leading to movement in the pipework and causing water to leak under pressure, according to the construction firm Graham.
The school will be a replacement for the current Lochside and St Ninian's primary schools, Langlands special school and Maxwelltown High School.
