Police: ATM raid 'not believed' to be linked to Appleby Horse Fair
A raid on an ATM machine in Kirkby Stephen is "not believed" to be linked to the Appleby Horse Fair, according to Cumbria Police.
Offenders forced entry to the McColl's store on Market Street at 2:45am on 15 June, and used cargo straps attached to a white Ford Transit van to remove the ATM from its fixed base.
They were disturbed, and made off without the ATM, but caused considerable damage.
Police say the van had been stolen from an address in Brough before the incident, and has since been recovered by officers.
