Family pay tribute to woman killed in eight-vehicle M6 crash
Police have formally identified a woman who died in a collision on the M6 in Cumbria on Wednesday, 28 March.
The crash involved a lorry and seven other vehicles, and happened on the Northbound carriageway of the motorway, near Tebay, at around 2pm.
Sandra McDonald-Martin, 69, from the Southampton area, was a passenger in one of the vehicles, and died at the scene.
Her husband, Christopher was driving the car. The 73-year-old was flown to the Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Officers were called at the same time to reports of a collision between a lorry and two cars on the southbound carriageway, in the same area.
Two air ambulances were sent to the scene, with tailbacks stretching back in both directions for over three miles.
Police are urging any witnesses to the collisions to come forward.
