Lionel Richie has announced a tour of the UK, with a show in Carlisle this summer.

The US singer-songwriter is hitting the road in June for a string of gigs,starting with a show at Franklin's Gardens in Northampton on 1 June.

Richie, 68, will play at Carlisle United stadium, Brunton Park, on 17 June.

Other tour stops include Perth, Hove, Lincoln, Shrewsbury, Leigh, Scarborough, Chesterfield and London, where Richie will play at Hampton Court Palace Festival.

The Hello singer plans to perform hits from across his extensive backcatalogue, up to the present day.

Tickets for Richie's concerts go on sale on 2 February.
