Wigton man taken to hospital after car hits tree on A591
A 23-year-old man from Wigton has been taken to hospital after his car left the road and hit a tree on the A591.
The collision happened just before 8am this morning between the Castle Inn and Bothel.
Cumbria Police, along with the North West Ambulance Service were called to the incident and the man, driving a blue Toyota Yaris, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle suffering from suspected back injuries.
The road remains closed while investigation work takes place, but it expected to re-open early this afternoon.
