Europe’s biggest open-water swimming event is set to move to a new home in Windermere, Cumbria next year.

After 10 years at Low Wood Bay, the Great North Swim is planned to be held at Brockhole from Friday 8 June to Sunday 10 June.

The new location is set in 30 acres of gardens that stretch to the shore of Windermere.

The event attracts almost 10,000 swimmers each year and the new location is said to offer a festival atmosphere across the three days.

Next year's Great North Swim is planned to offer activities for families, food from local producers, entertainment, and a craft beer tent for post-swim celebrations.

The Director of the Great Swim Series said:

The Great North Swim will offer seven distances for a range of ages and abilities.

It will be the first event in the Great Swim Series taking place across the UK in 2018.
