Fire exit door set alight at Galashiels cinema

Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing for witnesses after the fire exit door of a cinema in Galashiels was set alight.

The suspicious incident happened at around 6.30pm on Saturday 4 November at the Pavillion Cinema.

It became apparent after customer at the cinema reported a burning smell to staff.

The fire was quickly extinguished and nobody had to be evacuated.

However, around £1,000 in damage was caused to the door.

Inspector Mike Bennett said:

Anyone with information should contact Galashiels Police Station on 101 and quote incident number 3484 of 4 November or Crimestoppers, anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
