Crab Fair celebrates 750th anniversary
The world famous Egremont Crab Fair gets underway tonight, Friday 15 September.
This year celebrates a very special birthday.... it is 750 years old.
The Fair, home to the Gurning World Championships, was established back in 1267 when King Henry 3rd granted a royal charter to Lord Egremont.
This makes it one of the oldest fairs in the world.
Events take place throughout the weekend with the highlight for many, the gurning event, held on Saturday night, 16 September.
The current Gurning World Champion is Adrian Zivelonghi.
Home favourite Tommy Mattinson held the title 13 times since 2001.
