Bowhill House predicts surge in visitors thanks to ITV's 'Victoria'
Staff at Bowhill House in Selkirk are predicting a surge in visitors thanks to an ITV television series.
This follows the portrayal of a former Duchess of Buccleuch in series two of 'Victoria'.
She was the Mistress of the Robes for Queen Victoria for five years in the 1840s and an exhibition about her life is on display at Bowhill House.
The Duchess is played by Dame Diana Rigg in the programme.
Since the new character was introduced, visitors have dropped by Bowhill’s ‘Love and Respect in the Victorian Age’ exhibition to find out more about the Duchess.
There are said to be considerable differences between the small-screen character and the real-life Charlotte-Anne.
The House and Events Manager at Bowhill said:
The exhibition will be open until the end of September.
