Up to £200 available to set up Whitehaven Market stalls
Young entrepreneurs are being encouraged to apply for a chance to win £200 to help them set up a stall at Whitehaven Market.
This comes as part of the first anniversary of the market relaunch.
The Copeland Borough Council £200 grant scheme is open to anyone aged 18 to 30-years-old.
The money will be given alongside the use of a £100 stall at Whitehaven Market for free, for six weeks.
Local traders will also be on hand to offer their skills and years of experience.
A ‘Big Birthday Bash’ themed market will take place on Saturday 30 September.
It will feature a selection of new stalls, entertainment and free goody bags.
The Mayor of Copeland said:
Whitehaven Market takes place every Thursday and Saturday.
The number of regular stallholders has doubled since its relaunch in October 2016.
This means the income for the council has increased by over 35%.
Up to £50 of the grant must be used to buy the relevant public liability insurance needed to work from a market stall.
The other £150 should be used for setting up costs.
