Northern Rail strikes expected to cause passenger disruption
Train passengers face disruption today as Northern Rail workers stage their latest walk out in a row over driver-only operated trains
It's part of a long running dispute over controversial plans to introduce driver only trains.
Employees are striking in response to Northern’s plan to modernise the region’s rail services and the changes Northern proposes to make to the role of conductors in the future.
Passengers are being advised to check with their train operators who're laying on replacement services.
Tips for those affected:
If you travel on a strike day and experience a delay of 30 minutes or more, you can claim compensation through Northern's Delay Repay scheme.
Customers with season tickets that don't include buses, trams or ferries, who decide not to travel due to strike action, can also claim compensation.
