Dumfries set for 36th half marathon event
Dumfries is getting set for its 36th half marathon event, the Dumfries Half Marathon.
This follows the announcement of the charity chosen to benefit from the funds raised.
Dumfries Running club has announced today, Tuesday 29 August, that any funds raised from this year's race will go to Marie Curie, the UK's leading terminal illness charity.
Dumfries Running Club, Marie Curie, Dumfries and Galloway College and South Scotland MSP, Colin Smyth, have come together to encourage people to take part in the event.
The race will take runners from the Dumfries and Galloway College at the Crichton towards Bankend before the Dovecotewell animal rescue centre.
The runners will then return to the Crichton via Glencaple back to Bankend.
The final four miles will see the runners retrace their steps and finish back at the College.
South Scotland MSP Colin Smyth will carry out the official start of the race and award medals at the end:
The event will take place on Saturday 10 September and begins at Dumfries and Galloway College.
