The next phase of a £450,000 scheme to revamp Selkirk town centre is to begin this month.

The plans for the Selkirk Streetscape Scheme include improved bus stops, better seating and pedestrian crossings, and the use of Market Place for events and markets.

During the works temporary bus stops will be put in place on the A7 road instead of the Market Place shop.

Parking will be available for the majority of the revamp and businesses in the area will be open as usual.

Selkirkshire Councillors say the work will enhance the town for local people and visitors:

The Council is funding the works with Selkirk CARS.

Work is to begin on Monday 21 August 2017 and will run until Saturday 31 March 2018.
