Nine-day closure between Kilmarnock and Carlisle due to to rail work
Rail services between Kilmarnock and Carlisle will not run for nine days due to rail work.
Network railway say replacement bus services will operate from when the work starts on Saturday 15 July until Monday July 24, when train services will resume.
Over four miles of track will be renewed by Network rail engineers, along the line from Mauchline to Dumfries.
Network rail say the work is so complex, they cannot be done without a short-term closure of the line.
In Mauchline, work to repair and strengthen the two railway bridges over Ayr Road will also be taking place, with further bridgeworks in the south, at Annan Viaduct, where masonry repairs and strengthening works have been carried out since May.
Additional track works will also be delivered on Sundays into August with buses replacing trains between Kilmarnock and Dumfries on 30 July and 6,13, 17 and 20 August.
