Cumbria military museum to showcase soldiers lives in India
An exhibition at Carlisle Castle's Museum of Military Life telling the story of the county's Infantry & Border Regiments' experiences serving in India, is being displayed from Saturday 8 July until Sunday 29 October.
Called 'Journey to the Raj - A Soldier's Life in India 1820-1947', the exhibition will explore the military's role in "protecting British trade interests" and "policing the Empire".
The museum will be organising various activities, including "curry lunches" by John Crouch on Sunday 9 July and Sunday 10 September.
A number of family-friendly summer workshops will also be held alongside a five day Festival of India with dance, puppetry and crafts from Monday 14 to Friday 18 August, 11am to 3pm.
