Scottish Borders beach recognised in national awards
Coldingham Bay beach in the Scottish Borders has been given a Scottish Beach Award for keeping high standards.
The beach was awarded for areas such as keeping the sand litter free, providing excellent information to visitors as well as accessible amenities.
Environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful, released its list of the country's best managed beaches, signalling the start of the traditional Scottish bathing season on the 1st of June.
The awards began as the Scottish Seaside Awards in 1993, with only two entrants.
Now, the awards serve as a benchmark for the level of quality in facilities provided to visitors. It also complements the work done by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency on bathing water quality.
Domestic visits to seaside locations in Scotland are considered to be worth over £3million per year to the national economy.
