Rail travellers across Cumbria face misery today, as no trains are running between Carlisle and Lancaster stations.

The cancellations were announced by National Rail yesterday, and have been caused by damage to overhead lines.

Passengers at Carlisle, Penrith and Oxenholme stations are all affected.

Replacement buses are operating today, and tickets for today will also be valid tomorrow.

A replacement bus service was already in place between Carlisle, and Glasgow and Edinburgh.
