Kayaker, 77, dies off Burnmouth coast

A 77 year-old man has died after he was discovered by Eyemouth's two RNLI lifeboats off the coast of Burnmouth on his kayak.

The victim was overdue to return to Burnmouth after heading out earlier in the day but failed to return.

Both of Eyemouth's lifeboats were then dispatched after 8:30pm on Tuesday evening.

The casualty was discovered approximately 400m north of Burnmouth and CPR was started immediately.

He was brought by stretcher back to the harbour and was treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

The casualty was pronounced dead at the scene.
