First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, has released a statement in reaction to the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May's, announcement of her intention to call a general election on the 8th of June.

Sturgeon says the prime minister "is once again putting the interests of her party ahead of those of the country."
