First World War bagpipes donated to Scottish soldier's home town

The daughter and granddaughter of a First World War hero have personally handed over his bagpipes to the Newton Stewart Museum.

Willie Marr piped troops into battle during the Somme offensive and the Battle of Loos.

This pipes, which date back to 1910, will now be kept in his home town, Newton Stewart.

Annie, Willie Marr's daughter said "it's amazing the bagpipes managed to survive for so long."

Staff at the museum were amazed to see how many people turned out to see the bagpipes being handed over:
