Weather: March in pictures

There is a saying about March:

That means a stormy start will lead to a calm end, and vice versa.

It did not really happen like that this year, we managed to dodge the most extreme weather with no named storms.

It was a chilly start to the month and snow returned during the third week.

But by the time we got to the end of March the temperatures had picked up, leading to a mild start to April.

Provisional climate statistics up to the 29 March reveal that March 2017 has been a relatively warm month - but you wouldn't have thought that as the snow fell on the 23rd.
