Princess Anne is visiting Cumbria today.

The Princess Royal was in Warcop near Appleby this morning to officially opening the new parish hall

She was been hearing about how the area has bounced back from the devastation of Storm Desmond.

The Princess Royal was shown photographs of the flood damage in the area and met local residents, whose homes and farms were affected.

Ray Bromby, chair of the hall’s trustees, said: “The opening of the Parish Hall by The Princess Royal will be a fitting tribute to all the people who have given their time so freely to help create this superb facility to help others.”

Her Royal Highness will also be at Windermere today to meet volunteers at branch of Save the Children, on Crescent Road - a charity of which she has been President of the charity since 1970.

Princess Anne will also visit the Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team and Kirkby Stephen Grammar School.
