Iconic band the Happy Mondays are heading to Carlisle for a gig this Autumn.

The legendary Manchester band have included the Sands Centre on their ‘Thirtieth Anniversary Twenty-Four Hour Party People Greatest Hits Tour’.

The gig, on November 30, will feature the original line-up famous for hits such as 'Step On' and 'Kinky Afro'.

It is the latest in a string of major concerts announced for Carlisle this year including Olly Murs and Little Mix and comes just a year after the Stone Roses played the Sands Centre.

The Happy Mondays were as famed for their offstage antics as much as their performances and along with the Stone Roses helped create the 'Madchester' sound.

Their commercial peak came around the album releases ‘Bummed’ and ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches’ – with the latter going platinum in the UK.
