Striking Viking jewellery goes on display in Cumbria
This video shows the moment, in 2014, when two metal detectorists discovered a hoard of Viking treasure at Beckermet in west Cumbria.
Now the jewellery, which is more than 1,000 years old, is on display at the Beacon Museum in Whitehaven.
Many people are familiar with the legacy left by the Romans in Cumbria, but the Vikings also settled here in times gone by.
They first appeared in Cumbria's Eden Valley back in 876AD, when the Danish leader Halfdan's troops destroyed much of Carlisle
But the Norwegian Vikings came from as far afield as Ireland and the Isle of Man, and settled along the west Cumbrian coast
Viking hoards have been found in north and south Cumbria, but this is the first one to have been discovered in the west of the county.
