Half a million people expected to take part in longest garden birdwatch
For the first time ever, RSPB has extended their annual garden birdwatch to three days, from Saturday 28 to Monday 30 January.
People are invited to spend an hour watching and recording the kinds of birds and wildlife they see in their garden or local public space.
They can then send their results to RSPB.
Now in its 38th year, RSPB expects more than half a million people to take part this month.
In preparation, there are a number of events taking place across Cumbria:
Saturday, 28 January:
Tips on how to participate in the Big Garden Birdwatch - 10-4pm, Carlisle City Centre
Meet volunteers from RSPB West Cumbria Local Group - 10-4pm, Lakes Home Centre, Cockermouth
People are also asked to look out for wildlife such as grass snakes, hedgehogs, stag beetles, stoats and moles.
