New vehicle for South of Scotland mountain rescue team
Moffat Mountain Rescue Team has a new weapon in its armoury: an off-road vehicle to help its members in their challenging role.
The 4x4 has cost fifty thousand pounds and has been paid for thanks to a huge money raising effort by local people as well as funding from St John Scotland, the charity involved in medical and rescue activities.
The vehicle has already been used in call-outs but this weekend, has been officially handed over to the team.
It has many benefits on its predecessor, including new equipment and more space for rescue team members to help injured people.
Moffat Mountain Rescue Team was established in 1969, and mainly covers the eastern part of Dumfries and Galloway.
