Lake District funding cut by £1.7m in five years
Funding for the Lake District national park has been cut by £1.7million in the past five years, according to figures from the Press Association.
The figures show the park's main government grant was £6.9million in 2010-11, dropping to £5.2million in 2015-16.
The national park, which is funded by central government, has been forced to cut back over this time, closing information centre and public conveniences.
In 2015, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) pledged to increase the direct grant for National Parks by 1.72% a year for most parks up to 2020.
