Child sex offender jailed

A man has been jailed for a string of sex offences against a girl under the age of 16.

Billy Sowerby, aged 26, of Croft Road, Brough, was sentenced to three years in prison today at Carlisle Crown Court for 11 counts of sexual activity with a child and sexual assault against a child.

Sowerby has also been placed on the sexual offender register indefinitely and has received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for ten years.

He committed his offences in north Cumbria between January and August 2015.
