A 'Day of Hope' event is being held in Kendal to give people a chance to reflect on the floods of a year ago.

It's being held at Sandylands Methodist Church, which was a reception centre for people on the day and has been a focus for practical and emotional support for people ever since.

Organisations like the mental health charity, Mind, and the alcohol and drug service, Cadas, are represented to offer support to people.

Kendal suffered more flooding than anywhere else in Cumbria with more than 2,000 homes and businesses flooded.

The event continues until 10pm this evening.
