A rare 'supermoon' will take centre stage in the sky tonight, appearing 14% bigger and up to 30% brighter than usual.

In the UK, 5.00pm will be the prime time for viewing - the moon's closest encounter to Earth for 69 years.

At 11.23am (UK time), the gap between the moon and the Earth will be at its shortest point - known as "perigee" - a distance of 221,525 miles.

Where and when can you see the biggest 'supermoon' in more than half a century?

It could be tricky to spot because of cloud, but be sure to send us your photos if you catch a glimpse of the supermoon - btvnews@itv,com or message us on our Facebook page.
