Borders drivers hit by UK's highest car insurance increase
Drivers in the Scottish Borders have been hit by the UK's highest annual car insurance increase, new figures have revealed.
According to the Confused.com website's car insurance price index the Borders has seen a year-on-year price rise of 23 per cent - a hike of around £99.
The average rise for the UK as a whole is 17 per cent.
The figures also show the annual insurance premium for men in the Borders has risen by 25 per cent - the highest across all regions and genders anywhere in the United Kingdom.
