Carlisle Squash Club back in action
Carlisle Squash Club is back in action after a tough eight months since its premises was flooded on Warwick Road in December.
The club has 800 members so it's great news for a large sporting community in the city centre.
They've had to use their initiative to adapt the premises to play while their club was a building site.
Some of the squash courts were made useable by chipping the flood-damaged paint off and playing on the bare plaster.
But even as they celebrate there are worries that they won't be covered by insurance if it happens again.
The Government's scheme to insure homes in flood risk areas, Flood Re, doesn't apply to businesses, including clubs like this.
With no insurance, all they can do is cross their fingers and hope it doesn't flood again.
But next door, Carlisle Rugby Club is far from up and running. Volunteers have just started rebuilding, but with no chance of insurance they'll only put back the bare minimum.
Eventually, they'll use what money they have to build new facilities that can withstand floods so this work has to be as cheaply as possible.
Both clubs hope Sport England will fund major changes to protect them from flooding again. Storm Desmond has made them even more reliant on charity.
