End of the season for Common Ridings

It's been an exciting summer for towns across the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway, but now the end of the ride-out season is here.

The celebration of the riding of the boundaries has taken place for centuries across the south of Scotland. The festivals surrounding these ride outs are steeped in tradition, celebrating the history and heritage of each town.

Thousands of people have lined the streets of towns from Hawick to Annan, to watch hundreds of horses and riders set off to ride the boundaries.
