Three men, including two brothers, have been sentenced for what a judge called "appalling" violence which flared up in Penrith.

Andrew Rowlandson, 27, Mark Rowlandson, 29, and Kurtis Beech, 30, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today for their roles in an incident which occurred at a house in the town.

One male victim suffered a leg wound caused by scissors and a female was punched in the face when the brothers, along with Beech, burst into the West Lane property on 20th March.

All three men admitted assaulting Kyle Kerridge by beating, with Beech also accepting he assaulted Laura Davidson on that date.

Andrew Rowlandson and Beech each pleaded guilty to an actual bodily harm assault on Leon Jeffries.

Community orders and unpaid work were given to both Andrew Rowlandson, of Castle Terrace, Penrith, and Beech, of Summerville Road, Manchester.

Mark Rowlandson, of Eamont Mews, Penrith, received a 12-month conditional discharge.

The three men were all said to have spent time in custody since the fracas.

They were told by Judge Peter Davies: "This was an appalling act of violence."
