Flagship leisure centre opens in Workington next month
A new flagship leisure centre in Workington will open next month.
The £11million Workington Leisure Centre has suffered construction delays and still isn't quite finished. It was hoped to be open in time for the start of the Rio Olympics.
The new centre will replace the 40-year-old centre at Moorclose.
Concerns were originally raised that the centre was built too close to a flood plain, but leisure bosses say it's been built far enough away from the River Derwent to be safe from flooding.
