Cumbrian man moved 100 miles for dementia treatment
A Cumbrian man is being moved more than 100 miles to West Yorkshire to undergo treatment for dementia.
Eric Bazley, from Walney Island, is currently being treated in Barrow.
However, he has recently become violent because of his condition, and the specialist care he needs is not available in Cumbria.
Eric has been married to his wife, Madge, for 63 years.
She currently visits him twice a week, but faces having to make a round trip of more than 200 miles, taking more than five hours, once he is moved to Dewsbury.
Speaking to ITV News, Madge said:
Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust says it always aims to involve family and carers in such decisions, which are not taken lightly.
