New 'end of life' suite to open in south Cumbria
A home-from-home private room where cancer patients and those closest to them can share precious final hours is to be built at Furness General Hospital thanks to funding from the charity Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
The new “end of life” suite, which will be called The Maple Suite, is to be created from a meeting room on ward nine - the hospital’s inpatient oncology (cancer) and haematology ward.
Its build and furnishing will cost £47,500, which will come from Rosemere.
