Residents discover how and why Appleby flooded
A report into how and why Appleby flooded during Storm Desmon is being discussed at a public meeting in the town tonight.
Appleby was hit by flooding three times during December's storms, and dozens of homes and businesses around the town were damaged. Water levels in the River Eden were the highest ever recorded and more than 170 homes were left underwater.
A flood investigation report has been undertaken by the Environment Agency and will be presented to residents tonight. The report collected a range of data from affected residents, site visits, surveys of the area and data collected by observers. The report will include advice for future action.
