A man who bit a pregnant woman on the ear has been spared an immediate prison sentence.

Lee Williams, 27, sank his teeth into Emma Musgrave's ear as anger over a vandalised vehicle erupted into violence in Aspatria.

Miss Musgrave was 29 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident on 11 April last year.

Carlisle Crown Court heard the bleeding victim later attended hospital.

She was vaccinated against hepatitis B after staff were informed Williams was a "known misuser of drugs".

Having pleaded guilty to an actual bodily harm assault, he was sentenced by Recorder Jeremy Lasker.

Williams, of Springkell, Aspatria, received a 15-month prison sentence which was suspended for two years.

Recorder Lasker also gave him a rehabilitation requirement, a 12-week curfew and a restraining order which prevents him from contacting Miss Musgrave for two years.
