The new Prime Minister has been publicly invited to visit the West Cumberland Hospital.

During Prime Minister's Questions in the House of Commons, Theresa May was asked by Jamie Reed to make the trip to Whitehaven.

The Labour MP for Copeland also asked her to commit to ensuring that consultant led services, including Accident and Emergency, Maternity, Paediatric and other services, are retained and improved at the hospital.

Theresa May said the Labour MP was the first MP to invite her to his constituency, and that she would consider all invitations she receives.
