Whisky distillery plans for Hawick approved

Scottish Borders Council has approved plans for a new whisky distillery and visitor centre in Hawick.

The Three Stills Company applied for planning permission back in March and councillors signed off on the project this week.

The business will take over the listed building on Commercial street, the former Turnbull & Scott site.

Staff at the council said they're happy to see disused buildings given new life and the prospect of job creation for the town, which has recently seen redundancies in the textile industry.
