Mountain rescuers save charity fell walker

A fell walker who was raising money for charity has been rescued by Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team.

The 27-year-old woman, from Dover, was taking part in a charity event when she stumbled on the path between Scarth Gap and High Crag, sustaining a potentially serious ankle injury.

The mountain rescue team say that they were able to locate the woman quickly thanks to the organisers of the event.

She was treated at the scene by a team doctor, and evacuated to a waiting ambulance by the team, along with an RAF mountain rescue team from Leeming who were training in the area.
