Government urged to protect more areas of Irish Sea
Conservationists in Cumbria want the Government to designate three areas of the Irish Sea as new Marine Conservation Zones.
Part of the coastline already has the protected status, but now they want areas of the muddy sea bed, several miles offshore to be recognised as well.
Wildlife Trusts across the North west of England say these areas could be as diverse for wildlife as the Amazon rainforest.
They want them much to be given greater protection from any harmful activities that might take place.
