Man arrested after 'serious assault' on M6

A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, after a serious assault on the M6 southbound near Kendal this morning.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital after the attack, which took place in the area of Grayrigg at around 3:30am.

A 37-year-old man, who is not from the local area, has now been found in the Lowgill area and arrested.

He is currently being questioned by police.
