Bupa fined £400,000 after care home death
The company that owns a Cumbrian nursing home has been fined £400,000 after a 91-year-old woman died after falling from her bed.
Bupa admitted two health and safety breaches at Carlisle Crown Court.
Josephine Millard was found dead after falling from her bed at the Beacon Edge Nursing Home in Penrith in 2013.
She died from natural causes, but the firm admitted failing to ensure her safety and failing to give staff adequate safety training.
In a statement, BUPA apologised to the family of Mrs Millard.
