Major Lake District road opens after flood damage
One of the Lake District's most important roads has re-opened to the public, having been closed for more than five months due to flood damage.
The A591 connects Keswick to Grasmere and those towns, along with villages along the route, say communities and businesses have been hit hard by the closure.
Highways England has been leading a major repair project to get the road back to normal.
Their work included building a new concrete retaining wall in the beck, filling the gap in the road caused by the floods, and then laying a new road surface.
Cumbria County Council had originally said the road would be re-opened at the end of May, however it's now being used by the public again three weeks ahead of schedule.
